What’s the difference between multifocal and bifocal lenses?Updated a month ago
At Nooz, we offer two types of lenses for presbyopia: multifocal lenses (also called degressive) and bifocal lenses. While they serve similar needs, they work quite differently.
🔄 Multifocal lenses (degressive)
These lenses offer a gradual reduction in correction from the bottom to the top:
🔽 Bottom part: strong correction for reading
🔼 Top part: lighter correction for intermediate vision (up to around 3 meters)
✅ Perfect for:
- Reading
- Computer work
- Talking and interacting with others
⚠️ Limitation: not suitable for long-distance vision

👓 Bifocal lenses
These lenses have two clearly separated zones:
👁️🗨️ Bottom zone: with correction for close-up reading
🆓 Top zone: without correction – for seeing far away
✅ Perfect for:
- Outdoor activities or walking
- Switching quickly between reading and distance viewing
