What is the difference between reading sunglasses and bifocal sunglasses?Updated a month ago
At Nooz, we offer two types of sunglasses for people with presbyopia: unifocal reading sunglasses and bifocal sunglasses. Here's how they differ:
🌞 Reading sunglasses (unifocal)
These sunglasses have tinted lenses with one single correction across the entire surface.
Ideal for:
- Reading outdoors (books, newspapers, phones…)
- Enjoying UV protection while having near-vision correction
🔎 Limitation: they don’t allow clear distance vision, since the correction is uniform.
👓 Bifocal sunglasses
These glasses feature lenses divided into two zones:
- The lower part has correction for near reading.
- The upper part has no correction, allowing clear distance vision.
This offers a smooth transition between near and far vision without needing to remove the glasses.
📌 Perfect for: walking, being on the terrace, gardening — anytime you need to read while keeping a clear view of your surroundings.
